Our client is looking for a visionary and experienced Unit Manager Theatre to join the company’s dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the theatre unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining operational efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the theatre unit, setting strategic goals and objectives that align with the hospital’s overall mission and vision.
  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, surgeons, anesthetists, and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day theatre operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and patient flow management, to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient delivery of services.
  • Develop and implement policies and protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards, infection control measures, and hospital policies, maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as the procurement and finance teams, to ensure the availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and medications for surgical procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance metrics, such as patient satisfaction, surgical outcomes, and operational efficiency, and implement strategies for improvement when necessary.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of surgical services.
  • Facilitate ongoing education and professional development opportunities for the theatre team, staying abreast of the latest advancements and best practices in surgical care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of surgical procedures, patient records, and other administrative tasks, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, audits, and accreditation processes to maintain and enhance the hospital’s reputation for excellence.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid SANC (South African Nursing Council) registration.
  • Previous experience in a shift leading or managerial role, demonstrating strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Post basic qualification in Operating Theatre is essential, showcasing specialized knowledge and expertise in surgical care.
  • Experience working in a private hospital setting would be advantageous, familiarizing the candidate with the unique dynamics and challenges of private healthcare.
