Our client, a well-established company in the Manufacturing industry, is currently seeking a skilled Structural Designer to join their team in Johannesburg.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Design and develop structural solutions for packaging materials using CAD software.
  • Create detailed drawings, specifications, and prototypes for production.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate design concepts for functionality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source appropriate materials and components.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams during the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections to verify product compliance and integrity.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural design.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas to improve product performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of design specifications, revisions, and changes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Paper, plastic, or manufacturing experience, preferably in the packaging industry.
  • Proven experience in structural design, including proficiency in CAD software.
  • Relevant qualification in CAD design or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design.
  • Knowledge of the process operation of flatbed die cutting, preferably with experience in Bobst machines, is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
