Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Security Manager to join their dynamic team. As the Security Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all guests and staff.

Your responsibilities will include managing the security team, implementing and enforcing security procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of security management in a hospitality setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the security team, ensuring efficient collaboration and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct training sessions for the security team, imparting the “Code of Ethics” and educating them on training programs.
  • Continuously identify risks in the operation and implement measures to eliminate, reduce, or manage these risks.
  • Develop and implement training programs for Emergency Response and Crisis Management Plans.
  • Conduct training on Fire/Evacuation Response Plans, including practical firefighting techniques.
  • Develop and implement training for outside threat response plans.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all response plans, crisis management plans, and immediate actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable South African legislation relating to criminal law, security, occupational health and safety, and fire safety.
  • Manage and maintain all Fire Life & Safety equipment and systems in the hotel.
  • Manage and maintain all CCTV/security/access control equipment and systems in the hotel.
  • Participate in training sessions provided by the hotel to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee and develop Health & Safety programs and systems, chair meetings, and be a permanent member of the health and safety committee in compliance with local South African legislation.
  • Contribute to the improvement and development of the Security Department by submitting written recommendations to the Director of Security.
  • Conduct investigations relating to loss, damage, theft, or injury in line with brand standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local laws/legislation, including criminal law, security, occupational health and safety, event management, fire safety, and POPI (Protection of Personal Information) Act.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality Security Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Facility/Workplace security.
  • Diploma/Certification in Security programs or Law Enforcement is advantageous.
  • NOSA/SAMTRAC/NEBOSH Occupational Health & Safety certification is highly regarded.
  • Fire safety certification.
  • First aid certification.
  • Ability to adapt to a multi-national environment.
  • Knowledge of all applicable South African legislation relating to criminal law, security, occupational health and safety, event management, fire safety, etc.
