Our client is looking for a skilled and motivated Section Engineer to contribute to their mining operations. As a Section Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe functioning of the mining equipment and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of mining equipment, optimizing reliability and availability.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute engineering projects, adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and implement corrective measures to enhance productivity.
  • Monitor and control costs related to engineering activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Participate in risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • GCC Mines and Works certification in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
  • Completion of a Leadership Development Programme (LDP) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining environment.
  • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of mining regulations and best practices.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capacity to manage and motivate a diverse engineering team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Sound understanding of health and safety standards in the mining industry.
