Our client is looking for two dedicated Safety Officers to join their team in Johannesburg and Cape Tpown. As a Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and reviewing Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Management (OSHEM) practices across various sites.

Your responsibilities will include identifying risks, recommending corrective actions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maintaining accurate OSHEM records. This role requires a strong background in health and safety, excellent communication skills, and a keen attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review OSHEM practices across sites to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
  • Identify potential risks and hazards in the work environment and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement effective safety programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate OSHEM records and documentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on OSHEM performance and incidents.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on safety-related matters.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and best practices in occupational health and safety.
  • Promote a safety-conscious culture within the organization.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and workshops for employees.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NQF 5 qualification in Health and Safety.
  • 3-5 years of experience in OSHEM in the built environment.
  • Experience in the fire protection environment is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in health and safety principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Ensure compliance with OSHEM regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct OSHEM audits and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with OSHEM administration and reporting.
