Job Description

Our client is a reputable construction company based in Pretoria, Gauteng, specializing in delivering high-quality construction projects. Our client is looking for a recently qualified Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the cost and production aspects of construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include examining and reviewing construction plans, preparing quantity requirements, collaborating with various stakeholders, gathering and preparing reports, providing recommendations for improvements, documenting design changes, maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.

This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of construction principles, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering projects within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine and review construction plans and prepare quantity requirements.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with site managers, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Gather and prepare reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other necessary documents.
  • Provide advice, recommendations, and suggestions to managers and clients on innovative improvements and new strategies.
  • Document relevant changes in design and update budgets as required.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Travel to various sites when required.
  • Handle the payment of workers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular cost assessments and analysis.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Adequate experience in construction estimating and/or finance.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles and guidelines.
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Several years of proven work experience in a relevant industry.
