Hirsch’s Homestores is looking for a dynamic and experienced Public Relations Officer to join the company’s dynamic team. As a Public Relations Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing the company’s reputation through effective media relations and strategic communication initiatives. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Johannesburg.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and update media lists to ensure accurate and up-to-date contact information.
- Develop and distribute press releases, media kits, and other relevant materials to targeted media outlets.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with media professionals, journalists, and influencers to promote positive coverage of Hirsch’s Homestores.
- Monitor and track media coverage to gauge public sentiment and identify opportunities for proactive media engagement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and execute the company’s media strategy and messaging.
- Support crisis communication efforts by providing timely and accurate information to the media and other stakeholders.
- Organize and coordinate press conferences, media briefings, and other public relations events.
- Assist in the preparation of speeches, presentations, and other written materials for senior executives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, news, and best practices in public relations and strategic communication.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation across all communication channels.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in press releases and media relations, ideally within the retail industry.
- Strong understanding of public relations principles and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans, both spoken and written.
- Self-driven and self-disciplined, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport.
