Job Description

Our client is a reputable and well-established multi-disciplinary consulting firm operating in the KwaZulu Natal province. Our client is looking for a skilled and qualified Project Manager with civil/structural contract management experience to join their dynamic team in Durban. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing civil/structural infrastructure projects, ensuring successful project delivery within budget, scope, and schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage civil/structural infrastructure projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project objectives, budgetary constraints, and timelines.
  • Develop project plans, including scope, schedules, and resource allocation, and monitor project progress against established milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Manage project budgets, including tracking expenses, approving invoices, and ensuring cost control measures are implemented.
  • Oversee contract management activities, including reviewing and negotiating contracts, change orders, and claims, while ensuring compliance with relevant forms of contract (GCC and JBCC).
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure projects meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Prepare and present project reports and documentation, including progress reports, risk assessments, and project evaluations.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, providing guidance, support, and motivation to achieve project objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing challenges and implementing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in civil/structural engineering, project management, and contract administration.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the management of civil/structural infrastructure projects, including contract management, QC management, and report writing.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA or as a Construction Project Manager (Pr CPM) with SACPCMP.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project, with knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD being advantageous.
  • Familiarity with GCC and JBCC forms of contract, and experience in dealing with claims.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities, with a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.
