The law firm in Sandton is looking for an experienced Legal Bookkeeper to join their dynamic team. As a Legal Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in managing the firm’s financial operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and financial record-keeping.

The successful candidate will have prior experience working as a Legal Bookkeeper in a law firm and possess the ability to work independently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the firm’s financial success and work in a professional environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and maintaining financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing and collections.
  • Prepare and process invoices, expense claims, and disbursements.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Prepare financial reports, including trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to address any financial queries or concerns.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve financial processes and systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Legal Bookkeeper in a law firm is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of legal billing systems and processes is preferred.
  • Relevant qualification in bookkeeping or accounting is advantageous.
