Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking investment company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their team. As the Group CFO, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial reporting and risk-related aspects of the organization.

This is a strategic leadership position that requires a candidate with a strong financial background, extensive experience in multi-sector industrial organizations, and a proven ability to operate at senior executive levels. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and drive the development of the Business Strategy and support the Group CEO in its execution across the organization.
  • Serve as a member of the Group Executive Committee, providing financial expertise and insights.
  • Determine an appropriate Finance structure, allocate tasks, and monitor the development of Financial competence to deliver financial strategic objectives.
  • Develop the annual and 3-year Group Finance Strategy aligned with the Business Strategy.
  • Guide and approve annual Finance operational plans, ensuring alignment with the Group Finance Strategy and Business Strategy.
  • Lead the development and monitor the implementation of the Group budget, providing guidelines for financial planning and control.
  • Review divisional budgets periodically and report major financial concerns to the Board and Executive Committee. Implement necessary financial remedial plans and measures.
  • Oversee cash flow, working capital management, and debt covenant to ensure compliance with financial obligations.
  • Provide expert advice on effective cost management measures for the business.
  • Supervise the administration of payroll, ensuring accuracy and adherence to delegation of authority.
  • Oversee income tax, PAYE, VAT, and the filing of relevant returns.
  • Monitor tax planning and structuring to manage tax exposures effectively.
  • Manage the administration of creditors and debtors.
  • Oversee the preparation for internal audits and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by analyzing complex financial data and formulating meaningful insights to support decision-making processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with SAICA membership.
  • Minimum of 12 years of post-articles experience in financial management, preferably within leading-edge multi-sector industrial organizations.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in a similar position within a similar-sized group or organization, preferably in the South African or regional environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in the industrial sector and investment field.
  • Post-graduate Honors Degree in Finance Accounting.
  • Post-graduate qualification in Commerce or Business Management.
  • Ideal: Leadership qualification, MBA, or Executive Development Programme.
  • Knowledge and experience in an investment environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fishing, gaming, or energy industries would be advantageous.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions is desirable.
