Our client is a reputable company based in Isando, Benoni in South Africa, operating in the roof sheeting sector. With a strong presence in the market, our client specializes in providing high-quality products to customers in the roofing industry.

Our client is looking for a dynamic and results-driven External Sales Representative to join their team. As an External Sales Rep, you will be responsible for travelling to various SADC regions, including Ethiopia, DRC, Maputo, Malawi, Mozambique, and Madagascar, to engage with traders, indirect export companies, and walk-in customers.

This role offers a market-related salary with additional incentives such as commission, fuel and cell phone allowance, as well as medical aid and provident fund benefits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with traders, indirect export companies, walk-in customers, and inspectors of institutes.
  • Assisting walk-in customers and providing excellent customer service.
  • Calling on existing customers and actively seeking new customers.
  • Assisting with walk-in customer sales and addressing their needs.
  • Conducting telesales for tenders and quotations when required.
  • Communicating customer and targeted professional requirements to the Export Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Promoting the company’s full range of products.
  • Providing professionals with updated material, technical information, brochures, and samples.
  • Maintaining knowledge of material availability and stock holding.
  • Keeping informed about competitors, product offerings, and market prices.
  • Liaising with customers regarding order progress when necessary.
  • Collaborating with the Administrator and Expeditor on changes to customer requirements.
  • Ensuring increased customer awareness and maintaining/increasing market share.
  • Providing excellent customer service to ensure optimal growth.
  • Meeting and improving annual budgets.
  • Responding to client queries in a timely manner.
  • Following up on deliveries as needed.
  • Providing written (typed) quotations to customers.
  • Making regular visits to customers and maintaining customer pricelists and databases.
  • Assisting with monthly material forecasts.
  • Supporting customers with cutting lists and drawing office requests.
  • Assisting with credit applications and preparing reports for the debtors department.
  • Resolving customer complaints and providing technical information, brochures, and installation procedures.
  • Performing general administrative tasks and maintaining personal filing.
  • Assisting with additional tasks as requested by management.
  • Upholding the company’s code of ethics.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service is provided to clients.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

  • Matric certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license is essential.
  • Essential computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of sales representative/technical sales experience.
  • Relevant sales/technical engineering diploma/degree will be advantageous.
  • Preferred experience with Syspro.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
  • Ability to actively negotiate and communicate effectively with all customers.
  • Sound knowledge of the South African roof sheeting industry is preferred.
  • A good understanding of the building industry will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel extensively into SADC regions.
