Job Description

Our client, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, is leading a solar plant project in Upington. With a focus on renewable energy and innovation, they are assembling a team of exceptional individuals to drive this engineering project.

Our client is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Electrical Construction Supervisor (Solar) to oversee the construction activities on-site.

As the Electrical Construction Supervisor, you will collaborate with the HSE Manager, contractors, and various stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project requirements. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive mindset.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide active support to the HSE Manager, enforcing the HSE Plan on-site.
  • Review and verify DSTIs, act as OHS, and guide contractors in complying with the project’s EMPrs.
  • Monitor and control contractors’ site activities and performance, ensuring adherence to contracts, employer’s requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor the project schedule and milestone dates, collecting daily diaries to track progress.
  • Provide QA/QC support, ensuring correct design implementation and assisting the EPC Engineer with on-site engineering designs.
  • Attend witness and hold points, conduct site acceptance tests, and assist in document review processes and technical acceptance procedures.
  • Support the Project Scheduler and Commercial team with progress measurements and document reviews.
  • Interact with stakeholders, effectively communicate company values and objectives on-site.
  • Fulfill reporting obligations and manage interactions with various project parties.
  • Report directly to the Site Construction Manager on a daily or weekly basis.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical site construction, with at least 2 years in the renewable energy sector.
  • BTech or BSc (Diploma minimum) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of regulations and experience in multiple project execution.
  • Proactive mindset, strong leadership skills, and intercultural competence.
