Job Description

Our client, a reputable company in the construction and heavy equipment industry, is seeking Diesel Mechanics specializing in Earth moving equipment to join their team in the Northern Cape.

With a strong presence in the Northern Cape region, our client is known for delivering high-quality services and solutions to their customers. They are dedicated to providing exceptional equipment maintenance and repair services, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

As a key member of the maintenance department, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, ensuring that they are in excellent working condition.

This role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment and contribute to the success of projects in the construction industry. Remuneration, allowances, and other incentives will be discussed during the interview process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic tests to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in Earth moving equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Repair and replace faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Follow maintenance schedules and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic systems and tools to aid in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and provide technical guidance when necessary.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in equipment technology and repair techniques.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic specializing in Earth moving equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic systems and maintenance software.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safety practices and protocols.
  • Relevant certifications or trade qualifications in Diesel Mechanics or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
