Job Description

Our client, a leading company in the chemical industry, is seeking a talented Chemist NPD to join their team in Muizenberg. With a strong focus on research and development, as well as quality excellence, our client offers a collaborative and inclusive workplace where innovative projects thrive.

As a Chemist NPD, you will play a key role in research and development activities, focusing on new product development.  You will be responsible for conducting pilot-scale trials, ensuring quality assurance, and providing technical leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development activities for new product development.
  • Design and execute pilot-scale trials to assess feasibility and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development.
  • Develop and optimize formulations and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform quality assurance activities, including testing and analysis.
  • Analyze data and provide technical reports and recommendations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Participate in product scale-up and commercialization activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners for ingredient sourcing and evaluation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in research and development and quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical processes, formulations, and characterization techniques.
  • Proven track record of leadership and engagement with staff.
  • Experience in conducting pilot-scale trials and achieving high success rates.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
