Our client, a renowned name in the eye care industry, is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Sales Representative to join their team. As a Business Development Sales Rep, you will focus on the Johannesburg North and West Rand regions, engaging with eye professionals and promoting premium eye care products.

Your ability to build relationships and drive sales growth will be key to your success. This role offers a competitive remuneration package and other incentives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sales calls to introduce and promote premium eye care products, including lenses, coatings, dispensing tools, and equipment.
  • Meet and exceed sales growth targets for the specified business regions, demonstrating a strong focus on achieving results.
  • Profile each customer store’s operation, understanding their business model and profit drivers, to tailor effective sales strategies.
  • Develop value-based strategies that align with both company goals and professional practices, showcasing the benefits of our products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with eye professionals, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and market dynamics, anticipating customer needs and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing and product development, to enhance product offerings and market positioning.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations to key decision-makers, highlighting the value proposition of our eye care products.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements, ensuring a win-win situation for both the company and customers.
  • Provide regular sales reports, market insights, and forecasts to management, contributing to strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential: A degree in optometry or any relevant tertiary education, providing a strong foundation in eye care.
  • Minimum of three plus years of business-to-business selling experience in the optical medical device or optical retail operations industry. Experience with Fortune 500 companies is preferable.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a strong background in medical technology sales and relevant tertiary education that aligns with the eye care market will be considered.

  • Strong influence and negotiation skills, with the ability to persuade and close deals effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and impactful interactions with customers.

  • Interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with eye professionals.
  • A valid driver’s license to travel within the assigned regions.
