Fred’s Forklift, a well-established company based in Vereeniging, Gauteng, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Bookkeeper – Finance Administrator to join their team.

As a Bookkeeper – Finance Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining various financial aspects, including payroll administration, accounts receivable and payable, bank and cash transactions, and maintaining accurate accounting records.

This role requires a minimum matric qualification with at least 5 to 10 years of accounting administration experience, proficiency in Sage/Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll, and strong verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain payroll administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing of wages and salaries.
  • Maintain and oversee accounts receivable and ensure effective credit control.
  • Manage and maintain accounts payable, including processing invoices and managing supplier payments.
  • Handle bank and cash transactions, performing regular reconciliations and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain and update accounting records in Pastel Accounting for debtors, creditors, bank and cash, and wages and salaries.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of monthly accounting records.
  • Perform monthly bank, debtor, and creditor reconciliations as required.
  • Prepare monthly reports and ensure the accuracy of debtor and creditor statements.
  • Set up payment files for creditor invoices and other company payments, following proper authorization procedures.
  • Handle statutory taxing and preparation of UIF, VAT returns, and payments, adhering to SARS e-filing procedures.
  • Liaise with accountants and auditors for end-of-year reporting and company final statements.
  • Maintain and continuously improve financial business processes and governance around financial control.
  • Oversee junior staff responsibilities and reporting, delegating tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum matric qualification with at least 10 years of accounting administration experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a bookkeeping qualification.
  • Proficiency in Sage/Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll.
  • Highly motivated individual accustomed to working in a pressurized work environment, preferably in a small/medium enterprise.
  • Computer literate with strong knowledge of financial software and MS Office Suite.
  • Own transport to and from work.
  • Applicants must reside in the Vaal Triangle.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
  • Ability to maintain client relationships and provide excellent customer service.
