Foreigners warned to carry their passports in KZN as Operation Dudula marches in Durban

“I’ve read most of the Dudula advert, they looking specifically at the undocumented and we believe that most of them are undocumented, so we call on them to remember to carry their asylum seeker permit so they don’t fall victim to the Dudula operation,” said provincial leader Dr Ganzamungu Zihindula.

He has previously called for the Dudula movement to be stopped in its tracks.

He says he hopes that most foreign nationals will not fall victim to the movement, despite having valid documentation as seen in other provinces.

Zihindula says while some shops or markets might close operations today, the city’s economy loses the most.

“Any foreign national that feel like they are at risk, I advise them not to open their shop to avoid being affected. Not everyone who is involved in this will be in good reason and might be in just to loot.”

About 400 people taking part in the Operation Dudula movement are expected to march from the City Hall to the Point SAPS this morning.

The Dudula movement is also suggesting that police should invest in portable fingerprint scanners which they should use to spot and arrest all illegal foreigners roaming around the streets.
